Join the Society
Membership is open to all, and new subscriptions are welcome. Each year the Society arranges a number of day seminars, lectures and also a conference in Scotland or elsewhere in the northern world where Celtic, Scandinavian, Scottish or English cultural influences intermingle.
Membership benefits include:
- Notification of conferences, new publications etc.
- Member discounts on SSNS conference publications
- Member discounts on conference fees
- Our peer-reviewed Journal, Northern Studies
- Opportunities to apply for student travel bursaries to conferences
If would like to join, please download and complete the application form (which includes a Standing Order form and a Gift Aid form).
We much prefer payment by Standing Order (it saves a good deal of volunteers’ administrative time), but should you wish to pay by cheque, this should be in £sterling and made out to ‘The Scottish Society for Northern Studies’. (Please note: any bank charges are payable by the applicant)
In addition, we very much hope that those of you who pay UK Income Tax may feel able to Gift Aid your subscription, as this will increase its value to the Society at no additional cost to yourself. In which case, please also complete the Gift Aid box on the Application Form
Completed forms (and cheques where relevant) should be sent, please, to Alan Calder (contact details below).
