How to Use the Database

It is possible to search the database by author’s surname, year of publication, volume number or article title. Either full or partial article titles may be entered. It is also possible to view the index in its entirety. Simply click on ‘View All Articles’ in the ‘Search Type’ list. The database does not support diacritics or special characters, so a search for Hermann Pálsson (for example) should be typed in as Hermann Palsson.

A Note on Dating

The dating of Northern Studies Volumes is a complex matter. Between 1973 and 1981, the Society published two journals per year, with the exception of 1976, where journals 7 and 8 were published as a combined issue. From 1982 the Society moved to yearly publication, although since 1990 this principle has not been strictly adhered to, and so a search for publications from 1991 or 1995 (for example) will yield no results from the database.

[R] at the end of an article title denotes a review article.
